Leaving Prince Edward Island by ferry, we took the drive to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. On this large island, there is a National Park and several scenic hiking trails. We followed the Cabot Trail around the north of the island and, again, were treated to gorgeous, panoramic views of fall color. We visited a museum dedicate to rug hooking, took long beautiful drives and walked to old structures and through woods. From here we drove to Halifax, Nova Scotia on the southern coast and a fishing village that seemed to specialize in derelict fishing vessels. Our stay at the Old Fish Store Cottage right on the ocean was a treat and we again saw villages, lighthouses and an art museum in Halifax that featured the naive drawings of Maud Lewis. We jumped back in the car and made our way to the Hopewell Rocks on the Bay of Fundy.
