Leaving Montreal, we picked Kathy's Aunt Mary Lou up at the airport and headed to Quebec City. We had a lovely hotel outside the city. We spent most of our time in the old city wandering the small streets with their interesting buildings. The Chateau Frontenac was a grand old hotel and quite the spot. Probably worthy of a stay some day. We took a day trip to the Ile d'Orleans, a large island in the middle of the St Lawrence with farms and restaurants and views. The drive up the St Lawrence Seaway had the best fall colors I've seen anywhere. A quick overnight in Fredericton and than over the long bridge to Prince Edward Island, another Province of Canada. This is a beautiful land of sand dunes, fisherman and rolling hills and the site where the home that Anne of Green Gables is based on is located. Also, some of the best ice cream we've had.
